American cheeseburger recipe

Cheeseburger is so popular that so many people cannot afford to go a day without having a munch of this delicious food.

The cheeseburger is to the average American what pasta is to the Italian or sushi is to the Japanese. What’s more interesting about cheeseburger is that it is readily available in any fastfood joint down the street and can also be prepared at home. All you need to do is to get the basic aspects right like the perfect kind of beef and other vital ingredients required for the preparation of American cheeseburger like cheese, chips, red onions, ketchup, tomato etc and you are good to go.

Unlike other complicated recipes that can give one migraine while trying to figure out one thing or the other, American cheeseburger is simple and very flexible, it gives you the opportunity to experiment with any idea you feel is worth giving a try, for instance, you can mix up condiments together to get your own unique hybrid flavor. With the American cheeseburger nothing is written on concrete.

Ingredients needed for the American cheeseburger

  • 2 pounds of newly ground chuck that relies on the 80:20 formular i.e about 80% has to be lean
  • 1 teaspoon of salt 1 teaspoon of newly ground black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon of onion powder
  • 12 slices of fresh American cheese (this can be bought at any deli counter for better quality and convinience)
  • 6 large burger buns (it is recommended that you make yours at home rather buying an already baked one)
  • Ketchup
  • Fresh lettuce leaves
  • Mayonnaise
  • Sliced red onion
  • Sliced pickles
  • Thousand island dressing


Step 1: add a mixture of ground beef, salt, pepper onion powder in a large container and continue to stir until they form together.

Step 2: partition them into portions (up to six). Using your hand, you ensure that each portion is as smooth as the other before they are grilled.

Step 3: if you are using a grill (this is recommended anyway), heat the grill and the grill pan, then put the burger patties and cover it.

Step 4: let it cook for upwards of two minutes, by this time the crust would have disengaged itself from the body of the pan. You can test a bit of it to be sure its okay then flip each burger and put two slices of cheese respectively and close the lid again once you’re through with this process, close the lid again and allow the other side of the burger to cook for another three minutes.

Step 5: now use a metal spatula to carefully transfer each burger to a plate or tray. Allow them to cool off for a moment.

Step 6: finally garnish your burgers to your desired taste and enjoy your delicious American Cheeseburger.
