There is certainly no doubt that Dunkirk is one the most outstanding blockbuster movies to grace our screens this year. And for lovers of history, politics and international relations, and above all, man’s inherent survival instincts in the face of threat and ensuing tragedy.

This movie will definitely be a rare gem. Dunkirk is a film about WW11 and appears as a bold break from the recent norm, and a clear statement to prove to critics that war films have not fallen out of fashion. It brings nostalgic memories of when the likes of Steven Stallion, Arnold Schwarzenegger and other legends relived the violence, suspense, gore, and tragedy that characterized the combatants and major wars like the WW1 and 11, the Vietnam War, the Korean War etc.

WHEN ALL YOU HAVE LEFT IS YOUR SURVIVAL INSTINCTS!

The plot centered on the evacuation of the allied forces from the British Empire, France and Belgium, who were tactically cut off by the Nazi Germans, all the way from the shores and harbor of Dunkirk, France. The event actually took place exactly between May 26 and June 04, 1940 when France came under severe attack from Adolf Hitler’s formidable German forces.

The curtain rose on a young soldier and his desperate attempts to hold on to life in the face of adversities brought upon him by a vicious battle. Under the situation he found himself, each breath taken and every moment lived seemed like a huge privilege.

Probably, nothing captures a war experience with its suffering, anxiety, despair, endurance and even hopelessness than Dunkirk. With surging adrenaline and a galloping heart beat in the face of perpetual danger, the battle weary soldiers couldn’t help but be on their toes, and equally do the much they can to stave off the superior fire power of the German army, while they waited for emergency evacuation.

Dunkirk is a thriller that promises to keep you on the edge of your seat for the entire duration of the 106 minutes it lasted.

The film was divided into three parts named; Mole, Sea and Air. The three parts flowed seamlessly and was complimented by a tense sound track that perfect justice in portraying the dangers and suspense that lurked around throughout the film duration.

Dunkirk was written and directed by Christopher Nolan, and has in its cast, an array of stars that included Fione Whitehead, Damien Bonnard, Aneurin Barnard and several other. A whopping $100,000,000 was spent in making sure that Dunkirk came out smoking.
