The Plot
Maureen Cartwright (Kristen Stewart) got a job as a personal shopper for Kyra (Nora von Waldstatten) who was a celebrity in Paris. She was assigned to always be on the lookout shopping for her boss and the death of her twin brother made things pretty difficult for her.
Lewis died from heart attack and while he was alive, both of them believed in the existence of a spirit world, so Maureen believed that Lewis would still be able to communicate with her from the afterworld.
Her faith paid off soon as Lewis’s ghost began to appear to her or was it an illusion as it wasn’t really clear enough. Her boss Kyra was murdered in cold blood and the police arrived to conduct investigation. A lot of things where shrouded in mystery and only the truth shall unravel it.
Budget & Box Office
While $1 million was spent in the production of the movie, it was able to generate $2 million and was premiered at the Cannes Film Festival where it was equally nominated for the Palme d’Or awards. The movie ran for 110 minutes.
Personal Shopper was received in good light by the public and was giving a five star rating by The Guardian.
On Rotten Tomatoes, it received a score of 79% from 217 reviews while the average rating was 7.2 out of 10.
Also on Metacritic, the film garnered a positive rating 78% over 100, despite its relative good showing, Personal Shopper received a thumps down at the Cannes Film Festival during its initial screening.
